Second 3D Modeling Attempt

I'm really quite pleased with the overall result of my Dalek, it certainly took long enough. I really do feel that I've learnt a bunch of new techniques, (mostly from just clicking and undoing anything that mucks up) mastering the 'qwer' keys has helped me speed up on the tedious things and the point selection options seem like a breeze now, haha!

First 3D modeling attempt

I couldn't really get the hang of the cut and slice tools when making the windows, I didn't realise till I took the screen shot that the axis aren't even centered.

Here we go!! (to be read in an Italian accent)

Hey, I'm Nathan despite what you might have already been told regarding the name "Boris".
I understand that everyone's first post is quite symbolic (in a sense) so I'll try my best to recall the past 2 weeks shenanigans, not that much of it is worth remembering.

I moved into my flat at Filbert Village, I brought everything I would ever want/need for the rest of my days with me so I can safely say that I have independence now, I'm still waiting for the clothes fairy to come and do my washing though, I figured I'd hold out a bit longer.
All my flatmates are great, along with all my new friends and peers. The course on the other hand is looking pretty difficult, not that I haven't overcome hurdles in the past.

As for missing home, I don't, unlike most people I'm actually happy to be getting on with my life and I couldn't be more glad that it's heading towards the future of Gaming, 13yr old Nathan used to dream of being a games designer so he's probably over the moon that I'm back on track.

I say "back on track" because for a long period of my life I wanted to be a photographer, maybe with work in advertising. After attending my Art Foundation year at UCA Rochester I realised that Photography might not be wisest decision, considering that technology is doubling every 18months in a world run by social media, nobody will want to pay a photographer money for something that they personally feel they can do better on their new iPhone7.

Anywho, enough ad-libbing, I'm a newly found Game Art student who will surely exceed greatness!
Over the next year I'm really hoping that my drawing skills vastly improve as well as my work on 3D modeling, everyone else seems way more comfortable doing their thing.
I've been told that "practice makes perfect", which I completely agree with, especially more recently, I feel like so long as I dedicate enough time to focus on one thing it seems to come a lot more instinctively.

Within the working side of the week (that's right, I'm still trying to have a good time, it's early days yet, I say that but the 'sickness' has definitely chased me down) I've been grasping onto the joy that is 3DS Max. Having never used 3D software I'm quite pleased to say that it's coming to me quite naturally, the program isn't very self explanatory but as soon as I learn all the fiddly little terms it'll be smooth sailing.

The Dalek... lets maybe not get into it. Fudge the Tricount in my opinion, I got it as close as possible without making it look any different from the reference that I made. Sorry, I said I wouldn't get mad about it. Moving swiftly on.

This weeks drawing. I actually had quite a good time, down by the canal with a bunch of friends eating cookies and annoying swans. Focusing on Vanishing points was one of those tasks that you know you've encountered before so at least I didn't struggle with anything... much.

Well, this is it, this is where I'll be posting everything to do with my progress onwards towards the gaming industry. Wish me luck, please. I'll need it more than most.
